For many of us in the guild, the Lich King's story began seven years ago when Blizzard released Warcraft III. We finally began the process of completing that story when we stepped into the 25-Man Icecrown Citadel and downed his first guardian, Lord Marrowgar. Our raid was not at full strength for the evening, missing our four most experienced healers to real-life matters and a sizable amount of undergeared DPS, but we got the job done.
It's funny when you think about Lord Marrowgar. The battle is composed of the four classic avoidable elements that usually cause wipes because of raiders not paying attention:
1) Stay out of the fire.
2) Switch to assigned targets.
3) Run away from the boss when it does a nasty ability.
4) DPS holding up because of aggro drop and the tanks need to reacquire the boss.
That is the script for the whole battle... literally. I imagine a designer is grinning evilly somewhere.
