Last night, we continued our diversion into mythic Emerald Nightmare and settled on tackling Ursoc.  It took a bit of work but we eventually knocked him down in size.  This is for our raid members that had to step out so we could downsize the raid to fit into a mythic.



The kill gives the Old Guard 2 whole kills in mythic Emerald Nightmare.  Will we get another kill this week before Nighthold opens??

There wasn't much left for us to do after we cleared out heroic Emerald Nightmare and Trial of Valor last week so we had to end up benching a portion of our raid team to try at least some mythics in EN.  Nythendra really did not put up much of a fight.



This kill gave the Old Guard it's first kill in mythic Emerald Nightmare.  We are not focusing on mythics, just using our free time to keep runs going while we wait for heroic Nighthold to open up.

Last week, the Old Guard finally conquered probably one of the more overtuned fights we have seen in awhile, heroic Heyla.  It took us a bit of work but we did finally managed to take her down.  For good measure, we one-shotted her the following week so go figure...


This kill closes out heroic ToV bringing the Old Guard to 3/3 in the raid instance.  On a whole, while some of the mechanics in the instance were interesting, it felt a bit overtuned overall (at least on release) and will most likely be forgotten as the expansion continues.  Many shades of Ruby Sanctum with this one...  We are glad we at least completed it before Nighthold opens up.

Fresh off our Odyn kill, we decided to head after Guarm since the fight was suppose to be substantially easier than Odyn on heroic, right?  It ended up being a bit more closer than we thought...


We'll take it!


This ridiculous kill brings the Old Guard to 2/3 in pre-nerf heroic ToV.  Next week they nerf the place in time for us to take a shot or two at Heyla.

With heroic Emerald Nightmare all but in camp status since the end of October and heroic ToV more challenging than mythic Emerald Nightmare, we had a bit of a dilemma -  Reduce our raid to the 20 man size needed to enter mythics or just throw ourselves at heroic Odyn to see if we can get it down... 


The Old Guard managed to down heroic Odyn on Dec 9 before the major mid Dec nerfs.  It is a very unforgiving and long fight but we managed to get through it with some hard fought effort.  This bring the Old Guard to 1/3 in the heroic Trial of Valor.

In 2016, a crack team of Old Guard alts emerged from the depths of their character select screen. These alts promptly leveled themselves to 80 and braved the maximum security prison of Ulduar to stop Algalon the Observer from delivering his message of reorigination. Today, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem and no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the Alt-team…


On Monday night, some of our raiders were able to accomplish something that I thought would be out of our reach or never doable because of a lack of interest. 9 of our members were able to successfully complete the feat of strength “Herald of the Titans”. The feat of strength requires raiders to defeat Algalon at level 80 with gear no higher than found in 10-man Ulduar.


This required a lot of effort from our raiders. This included leveling a toon to 80, running Ulduar, Naxx and several ICC-5 mans to gear their toons with 226 gear and 232 weapons. The process took us a little over a month to successfully twink out our 80s.


After a few struggles we were able to successful kill Algalon and clear out most of Ulduar at level! Thank you again for all the hard work and effort to the raiders that participated. Your title is well earned! Now please enjoy the theme song from the A-Team!
