Three months back, it looked like this was unlikely to happen for our guild. We were starved for raiders to fill our 25 man roster and at best could only muster 10 man raids to run tier 14 content. Somehow when the Throne of Thunder was released, we managed to get a 25 man raid formed with help from returning raiders, a couple new apps and the guild community.
It was rough going at first. The raid team quickly hit a wall on Horridon that at the time seemed nearly insurmountable. Some were wondering that perhaps the time for 25 man raiding was past and we should seriously consider focusing completely on 10s. Instead, we kept at it. We camped Terrace of Endless Spring to gear up our raiders and focused on actively recruiting great players that could make a commitment to our raiding schedule. We were finally able to break down (http://lesgrognards.net/forums/index.php?topic=4608.0) the Horridon wall and turtle punt (http://lesgrognards.net/forums/index.php?topic=4647.0) Tortos that briefly stopped us in our tracks.
Last night we were able to reap the rewards for our commitment and, well, plain stubbornness, to 25 man raiding. The Old Guard defeated the Thunder King Lei Shen to fully clear the Throne of Thunder in 25N. This is a great triumph for the Old Guard, not only for completing the tier content in normal modes while it is relevant, but also rebuilding a solid raid team that can accomplish much as long as we can stick together.
We still have more to achieve in the Throne of Thunder. Next week we hit the heroic switch...
