Application Information

The Old Guard is always looking for good people to build and add to our community.  Please fill out the information below to the best of your ability so we can determine if you are a good fit.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for people that are friendly, mature and love to raid.  Our guild is fairly light-hearted but we take raiding seriously.  You should be knowledgeable about your role and willing to perform your assignments for the benefit of the raid.  You should be willing to listen to advice and criticism, get along with the other members and strive to increase your performance.  We expect you to understand what gear you need and how to properly gem and enchant it once you get it.

You should be able to handle moderate content and be able to research new content without it being spoon fed to you.  We will tailor our strategies for what works best for our raids so an ability to adapt is greatly appreciated.  A tolerance for glass chewing goes a long way.

With all that said, the Old Guard is a fairly experienced raiding guild.  Most of our members have been raiding since vanilla and we have high expectations with our raids.  Performance is regularly scrutinized for all participants.

If you are applying as a raider, it is expected that:
  • You have Discord installed and able to listen to it during raids.  You don't need to speak.
  • You have a fairly reliable internet connection and a pc or mac that can handle a raids with 20+ members.
  • You have a raiding addon such as Big Wigs or DBM installed.  You should have a basic understanding of how these addons work and how to use them.
  • Our guild bank typically provides flasks on progression content to last an entire raid.  However, you should not rely on the bank and have some on hand.  You are expected to bring your own pot, food and repair money.

Application Process
1) Read the Code of Conduct. If you are applying as a raider, read over and understand the Raid Requirements as well.  If accepted, get any questions answered you may have as soon as possible. Questions to the raid leader during a raid about loot slows down the pace of raids.

2) Register on the forums, preferably with you character name.

3) Copy and fill out the application form found below in an appropriately titled post in this forum.

4) Once you have posted your application, please join the applicant channel ogapps (to do this, type "/join ogapps" in your chat window).  If applying as a raider, we will try to work you into raids/instance runs.  Being available on raid nights to fill-in, for a regularly scheduled raider who has canceled at the last minute is a great way to expedite your application into raiding status by showing what you can do!

The officer running recruitment is Midnitini.  Other officers you can contact are Buckwyster, Nomegamok and Late.  The GM is Nanako.

Be proactive about your application. Filling out the application is only the first step to becoming a member of Old Guard.  Join the ogapps channel, initiate conversations with the members and answer questions in your app thread on the forums.  Show us you care about your app and want to follow it through.  Keep in mind, posting an application the day before going on vacation to Abu Dabi for 3 weeks isn't the best first impression.

We are a heroic raiding guild (that dabbles in mythics if we get the time)
Our current raid week is:
Tuesday 7:45pm-10pm
Wednesday 7:45pm-10pm
Thursday 7:45pm-10pm
(all server times)

Raid Rotations
To keep our raids running, the Old Guard makes use of a raid rotation system when the number of active raiders exceeds the number of raid spots available during the week.  There are no guaranteed slots except for a couple of the raid leaders.  This system allows us to handle raider absences or requests for evenings off fairly well while allowing all members to experience the content.  More information about it can be given by an officer if you are curious.

Notes on Applying
Remember to spend some time on your application.  For many, this will be your first opportunity to make an impression on our guild.  Show us you care about your application.  Check on your application regularly for feedback.  All Old Guard members can and will spend time evaluating applicants.

It is easy for us to reject an applicant that we barely know and hear from.  It is hard for us to reject an applicant that we know and enjoy their company.

Please copy and paste this into your application.
