News / Knockin' on Hellfire's door

The Old Guard traveled to Tanaan Jungle to start a campaign to bring an end to the Iron Horde threat by assaulting Heroic Hellfire Citadel.  First up is getting through the gates and entering the citadel itself.  To do that, we took on Seigemaster Mar'tak and the rush of the Hellfire Assault.  Once the front door was destroyed, Mar'tak tried to put up a last minute defense in her Iron Reaver.  It didn't work out so well for her in the end.

These kills brought the Old Guard to 2/13 in Heroic Hellfire Citadel at that point....

Last night on a warm Memorial Day eve, the Old Guard put together a small group to venture into Mythic Highmaul to see what could be done in a couple hours of work.

The team cracked some skulls and brought a quick demise to Kargath Bladefist and Twin Ogron.  That is 2 out of 17 tier 17 mythics down, a small dent in a vast pool of challenging encounters... But hell, it gives us something to work on while waiting for Hellfire Citadel to drop.  Maybe we can get a few more...

Tuesday night, the Old Guard climbed to the top of the Forge to take on one of the chiefs of the Blackrock Clan, Warlord Blackhand.  We dodge falling debris, danced around slag mines and survived massive shattering smashes that tore the Forge asunder.   In the deep bowels of the cold Iron Crucible, we finally downed the ruthless tyrant. 

The Old Guard is now 10/10 and has completed Heroic Blackrock Foundry.

The Old Guard continued their expedition into Heroic Blackrock Foundry to find the Blackrock clan's closely guarded and treasured secret, The Blast Furnace.  imprisoned within the burning furnace is the Heart of the Flame, a primal elemental of terrifying strength held captive by Foreman Felspar and his minions.  The Old Guard took down Foreman Felspar and his small army only to find the primal elemental thanking us by trying to melt our gnomes.   We proceeded to extinguish the unappreciative briquette to send him to rejoin his brethren fire thingamajigs such as Ragnaros, Baron Geddon and whatever else we dug up in the Firelands and Molten Core over the years...

The Old Guard is now 9/10 in Heroic Blackrock Foundry.  Time to knock on Blackhand's door!

The Old Guard traveled further into the depths of Heroic Blackrock Foundry only to discover a large grotto harboring Admiral Ga'ran's flagship, the Dreadnaught.  We snuck up a ramp, taking out longshoremen resupplying the ship only to encounter Admiral Ga'ran herself along with her two lieutenants, Enforcer Sorka and Marak the Blooded.  We drew our weapons and prepared our spells to engage and take down the Iron Maidens.  It took some work and effort but we finally dispatched them and crippled Blackhand's fleet.

This kill brings the Old Guard to 8/10 in Heroic Blackrock Foundry.

Following a lost gnome death knight, the Old Guard randomly wandered around Heroic Blackrock Foundry until we entered the chamber of the Great Anvil and found a living magnaron, Kromog.  For a moment we were confused, thinking the gnome mistakenly led us through some forgotten portal to Ulduar and we had happened to stumble upon Kolgarn's uglier sibling.  To our surprise, we found this living mountain had aligned himself with the Iron Horde and was pounding out weapons for their nefarious war machine.  We decided we needed to make a bridge out of him.

This kill brings the Old Guard to 7/10 in Heroic Blackrock Foundry.

This week, the Old Guard traveled full steam into the Iron Assembly of Heroic Blackrock Foundry like a runway train.  Inside we encountered the smooth operator of the Grimrail, Operator Thogar.  He tried his best to derail our raid and side track us; However, we didn't lose our train of thought and managed to stamp his ticket to send his caboose to the end of the line.  Choo choo that mofo!

The Old Guard is now 6/10 in Heroic Blackrock Foundry.

Last Thursday, the Old Guard continued our trek into the Black Forge of Heroic Blackrock Foundry and found Flamebender Ka'graz imbuing newly forged armaments with the essence of flame.  With some hard work and flame resistant underwear we put a stop to her and these weapons destined to be used by Blackhand in his conquest of Draenor.

This kill bring the Old Guard to 5/10 in Heroic Blackrock Foundry.
