« Last post by Nanako on September 29, 2015, 12:27:00 PM »The Old Guard arrived in time to the Black Gate to witness the arrival of Archmonde the Defiler, the leader of the Burning Legion for the dark titan Sargeras. Archmonde expected to begin his invasion but we didn't want to have any of that. With help from Khadgar, Yrel and Grom, we dodged fires, shot raiders into the air and banished groups while shouting "Don't let the Infernal Doombringers meet!" We finally brought the invader down without even having to sacrifice the tank +2.
It's too bad Yrel completely forgot Grom's attempt to commit genocide against her own race. Perhaps another day...
This kill brought the Old Guard to 13/13 in Heroic Hellfire Citadel and closed out a great raid instance... for now! Congratulations to all raiders in the Old Guard who helped out in raids this expansion to get this done.

« Last post by Nanako on September 08, 2015, 11:04:18 AM »The Old Guard finally traveled to the top of Hellfire Citadel and found yet another of Archmonde's enforcers that has previously been defeated (4 times??) being brought back to lay havoc in his wake - Mannoroth. Where was Grommash in all of this since he apparently can kill Mannoroth with a single axe blade? Or maybe Thrall since he also mastered the one axe kill or can snap his fingers to crush any opponent? Who knows? As usual we have to clean up the mess. Mannoroth tried to put up a fight early in the evening, but to steal a quote from him, "A worthy effort... but futile."

It feels great to be working with such a talented raiding team! Lets see if we can't down all of the bosses again this week and get Mannoroth out of the way!

« Last post by Nanako on September 01, 2015, 08:36:23 AM »With Xhul'horac down, the Old Guard reversed course and worked our way back through the Amphitheater of the Eternal into the Temple of Tyranny. Inside this temple, we found the Eredar anti-paladin, Tyrant Velhari. The fight was a bit more nuanced than the previous battle we fought earlier in the evening which was relatively straight forward. Learning to deal with her 3 paladin specs took a bit of adjustment but we managed to get it down quickly after some pulls. She was carrying an awful lot of mail considering she was an anti-paladin. Perhaps that is what led to her downfall?!

« Last post by Nanako on September 01, 2015, 08:19:32 AM »After we took down Robodaddy, we weren't quite sure where to proceed next in Hellfire Citadel. Which lieutenant of Archimonde army would be less eye gouging and groan inducing? In the end, we headed towards the Felborne Breach because the trash leading to it was less annoying. Inside this breach, we found Judge Death himself in his ghastly form as Xhul'horac, with wings that don't appear to work. You have to wait for the flight patch like the rest of us you evil-doer! We took on the gaseous bag... properly remembering to focus on adds, run fire to the edge of the platform, yaddah yaddah yaddah... We quickly reduced this parasitic void spawn into, well, whatever is left after you defeat a parasitic void spawn.

News / Third time the charm?
« Last post by Nanako on August 25, 2015, 12:49:14 PM »With our bellies full of fried chicken, we reversed track and headed down the ominous red hallway to kill Sargerei troops to approach the Amphitheater of the Eternal. Inside this poorly lit amphitheater we encountered an old foe that refuses to pass on, Socrethar the Eternal. We thought we killed him with Voren'thal in Socrethar's Landing in the Netherstorm. Wrong timeline! We thought we killed him near Shattrath dome in Talador. Almost! Now mind you, he was mostly dead but not quite dead. His soul inhabited a fel construct that we had to beat on a bit to exhaust his soul out which we preceded to beat on while praying the tankadin could actually lay fire trails and fel prisons without killing the raid. Barely! It is unfortunate we could't keep the construct for the remaining bosses in Hellfire Citadel, but then again, maybe not.
Next time we will just do an exorcism.
