News / But where are his legs?
« Last post by Nanako on August 08, 2017, 10:17:21 PM »
After our wonderful time playing DJ Hero against Maiden of Virtue, we finally gained access to the catacombs sealed for ages and to our surprise found the Fallen Avatar of Sargeras sealed for eternity and guarded by the Maiden of Valor. Members of the Old Guard prepared for a difficult fight and suddenly noticed he had no legs. Being the valorous raiders we are we just couldn't hit someone when they were down, so we decided to strap on a pair or two of those legs we had taken from Ragnaros back in the Firelands.

After evening the odds (for him), we proceeded to hand him another beat down from which he wont recover and moved on to 8/9 in the Heroic Tomb of Sergeras.

A well done job to all our heroic raiders as all that now stands between us and Argus is an epic fight against the deceiver himself, Kil'Jaeden.

That beat, those lights, this boss... it must be time for the Old Guard to play some DJ Hero against special guest DJ the Maiden of Vigilance. After a few rounds of learning the controls and how to crossfade between tracks properly, we managed to get the crowd fired up and on our side and proved we were the masters of this game quickly rising through the ranks to superstar status.

Having mastered getting our 5 star rank on track mixing we dropped the beat on Maiden bringing us to 7/9 in the Tomb of Sergeras and letting us finally descend into the catacombs sealed for ages below to face that which should never have been disturbed.

News / Recycled art project
« Last post by Nanako on July 09, 2017, 08:38:56 PM »
We at the Old Guard consider ourselves to be well rounded raiders, and what better way to keep ourselves rounded during each raid tier then to take time during a raid to view some culturally significant art. One stunning piece we recently discovered during our recent raid in the Tomb of Sargeras was titled "The Desolate Host" and Blizzard has done another fine job of taking old boss models, recoloring them while adding a few new abilities, and throwing a generous round of name tags into the mix just to keep things interesting. This excellent example of "upcycling" successfully manages to bring out the cultural divide between the uptown elite and the downtown oppressed all while keeping each to their own side; both unifying and dividing a raid group all at once.

After concluding our viewing, we all decided that this art project needs to go back to the trash, promptly smashing it and leaving it a broken mess on the floor. This brings us to 6/9 in Heroic Tomb of Sargeras and is another job well done.

News / Bad Moon Rising
« Last post by Nanako on July 05, 2017, 06:15:39 PM »
There are quite a few trash pulls in the Tomb of Sargeras between Mistress and the Sisters of the Moon so our brave members of The Old Guard decided to pass the time with a little sing along.

To the tune of "Bad Moon Rising" by Creedence Clearwater Revival
We see a bad moon a-rising
We see trouble on the way
We see earthquakes and lightnin'
We see bad times for them today

Don't go 'round tonight
We're bound to take their lives
There's a bad moon on the rise

We hear the typhoons a-blowing
We know their end is coming soon
They fear rivers over flowing
We hear the voice of rage and ruin

Don't go 'round tonight
We're bound to take their lives
There's a bad moon on the rise

Thanks to all those who put up with our tone deaf raiders and managed to bring us to 5/9 in Heroic Tomb of Sargeras.

News / Add Managedment 101
« Last post by Nanako on June 29, 2017, 07:16:27 PM »
Recently members of The Old Guard emerged successfully from a ferocious group battle managing to down not only Mistress Sassz'ine, but also the grossly overestimated 3247 adds summoned in during the fight with her! Having managed to purge the Naga infestation from the sunken depths of the Tomb of Sargeras, we now begin to look deeper into the temple to place the final Pillar of Creation and unlock the seal baring our way to the basement.

Congrats to those who slaughtered countless adds efficiently and brought us to 4/9 in Heroic Tomb of Sargeras

News / Harjatan Angry... Harjatan Smashed!!!
« Last post by Nanako on June 25, 2017, 07:24:54 PM »
As the Old Guard continues to delve into the depths of the Tomb of Sargeras, we next encountered a giant, hulking brute of a beast named Harjatan. Like most bosses, the bigger they are, the dumber and easier they tend to be. Despite this fight adding a few rabid murlocs running around to the fight to keep it interesting, the boss offered little resistance to our crack team of raiders.

Congrats to those who participated in our first kill and brought us to 3/9 in Heroic Tomb of Sargeras

News / Spare us the details...
« Last post by Nanako on June 22, 2017, 10:11:36 PM »
Time for Old Guard to get things started in the new Tomb of Sargeras raid!

First off, what better way to kick off a new tier of raiding then to go... bowling?!?!

Heroic Goroth presented us with our first challenge in the new raid and while we didn't manage to get the strike we were hoping for, we most certainly showed him we were better at knocking him and his pins down, easily picking up the spare!

Hot off our success on Goroth we proceeded deeper into the tomb when suddenly, we were rudely reminded that...

Unfortunately for the Demonic Inquisition, we tend to not be caught unprepared and proceeded to down them as well.

Congrats to everyone who participated in our first kills of the raid tier and put us at 2/9 Heroic Tomb of Sargeras

News / What a Nightmare!
« Last post by Nanako on June 13, 2017, 10:22:31 AM »
For the past few weeks a group of fearless Old Guard raiders not satisfied with any normal challenges delved deep into the twisted dream of the Emerald Nightmare and the font of power deep within the Nighthold in an attempt for further fame and glory. Those that managed to successfully brave the numerous bugs, spiders, eyes, and bad fruit all out to kill them found that they had kept a small memento of their time within the nightmare in the form of a defiled moose which chose to remain with them.

Congrats to everyone that managed to earn their Glory of the Legion Raider achievement and with it the Defiled Reins mount.

As we close out our experience with the introductory tiers of Legion on a high note, prepare to charge onward once more into the breach as we tackle the Tomb of Sargeras starting June 20th and work toward the Glory of the Tomb Raider!

Our foray into heroic Nighthold continued through the central plaza where we rushed down a staircase and came upon a broken bridge surrounded by what appeared to be pooh water.  At the end of this broken bridge, we encountered the colossal doom lord with the popped collar, Krosus.  Never backing down from a bridge boss or a half-body boss (our guild is still debating his place), we quickly engaged.  This one was for Tirion...

This kills brings the Old Guard to 5/10 in heroic Nighthold.  The simpler mechanics of the fight were a nice change of pace for our raid team though our first kill was another we-all-die event.  Time for the tougher ones....
